Product Details

The Verbal Atomic Watch is a high-quality watch that verbally speaks the time and date in a clear, British voice that makes it perfect for those with limited eyesight.

This watch has an automated reset to the correct time when the clocks go forwards or backwards during the season changes.

The automated reset occurs via an atomic radio signal which is transmitted from the Anthorn radio transmitter in Cumbria.

This watch automatically resets the time in the UK, USA, Germany and Japan. It also has a manual adjustment button for when the watch is being used in other countries.

The watch also has an alarm that can be personally set and gives the choice of an hourly time announcement.

The audio on this watch was recorded by the Royal National Institue for the Blind (RNIB) to ensure that the sound is as easy to hear and understand as possible. Similarly, the high vision typeface used for the numbers are approved by the RNIB. This gives a clear dial so you can easily see the time at a glance.

The watch is a classic design set in a silver-tone case with a stainless steel bezel and a high-quality leather strap.

Battery included.

Available in two models as follows:

Ladies:

Overall Width: 3.5cm (1.38 inches).

Watchface Diameter: 2.8cm (1.1 inch).

Mens:

Overall Width: 4cm (1.57 inches).

Watchface Diameter: 3.2cm (1.26 inches).

Did you know?

In 2011, the atomic clock housed in Britain's National Physical Laboratory (NPL) was found to be the world's most accurate. The clock is a caesium fountain clock, meaning that the "tick" is provided by the measurement of the energy required to change the caesium atoms' spin. It was found to be accurate to one part in 4,300,000,000,000,000, meaning that NPL's clock will not stray by more than a second in 138 million years.

Although that accuracy may be overkill for day-to-day, by using the signal from the NPL atomic clock you can be sure your watch will always show the correct time. It will even adjust automatically for British Summer Time. If you happen to travel elsewhere in the world, your watch can also use the atomic signals in the US, Germany and Japan.

    Verbal Atomic Watch

Review by M. Sadd Posted on 27/12/2023
The watch is really good and my mother is finding the speech function really good. Just the job. one small thing of note. When first used it went to british summer time rather than gmt which was in use when we got it. However, overnight the day later it adjusted fine. This is not in in the instructions but was in another review I saw. Otherwise very simple.
