This is a hammock-style sling where the user can be left in-situ. Suitable for fitting from the recumbent position, it is made from a cushioned 3D woven ‘Spacer’ material and with a seamless leg section.
This Oxford In-Situ Sling offers high levels of comfort and can be left in place under the patient following a suitable risk assessment.
It is made from breathable polyester for total user comfort. The material stretches to the shape of the user's body for a safe and comfortable fit and is designed for people that are likely to spend long periods of time in the sling.
Added security is provided by the pommel that fits over the user's legs to hold them in position and prevent slippage.
This sling is suitable for the lifting of amputees following careful assessment.
3D woven spacer material has become a popular option for patient slings. Due to its inherent cushioning and air-flow characteristics, patients often find these slings more comfortable than standard polyester options. It is often promoted and referred to as an ‘In-Situ’ material although this is not strictly true. Divided leg sections still have potential to interfere with tissue viability for ‘at risk’ patients due to the stitched binding/seams. The Oxford In-Situ sling is therefore designed to negate this problem through its ‘seamless’ leg section, helping to reduce these risks.
